Study: Cancer Treatment and Weak Bones
Health Update jcox Monday 01 October 2007 - 10:47:19

A recent news article outlined a new research report which suggests a link between breast cancer treatment and bone thinning.  The researchers found a strong connection between hormonal therapy with aromatase inhibitors and weakened bones among patients who had undergone this treatment.  There was also observed to have a prevalence of secondary factors affecting their bones, especially vitamin D deficiency (caused by a lack of sunlight absorbsion).  Researchers also stated that patients who had undergone such therapies should have their bone health monitored regularly and, in many instances, be evaluated as if they were much older.

Unfortunately, breast cancer rates remain high among American women.  Many factors play into this, but the development of breast cancer is usually attributed to lifestyle decisions, such as smoking, excessive drinking, and subsisting on an unhealthy diet.  At Cox Family Chiropractic, we promote overall wellness through a variety of means.  For more information on how you can stay healthy, feel free to contact us and set up an appointment with Dr. Cox.
